Deep Water Davy Jones’s Jacket

From the depths of the sea, emerges a visibly corroded and battered galleon that has been submerged for a long time. In a very particular way, it is inhabited by a legend where its sailors, half-human characters with their bodies inhabited by strange creatures like mollusks and corals that fill their skin, tell stories from the times of colonization.

This jacket is inspired by Captain Davy Jones, a tenacious and melancholic character who guards a secret and with whom I imagined his beard of tentacles and restless suction cups that, inside the jacket, collect pearls and shrimp, and keep a very valuable secret.

In its process, this piece was transformed using pigments, paints, and details in various sizes and characteristics of beads. Intervened with Tie Dye, playing with colors of a murky marine background, a layer of textile paint, and finally, hand-woven recreating pearls, shells, and white stones.
